A few words about URL wildcards in eZ Publish 4.0

URL management was enhanced in version 3.10, as new multilingual URL aliases were introduced. From following the ez.no forums a bit, it seems as though some users are having problems with "old virtual URLs" in the new system.

If you want to set up a virtual URL in eZ Publish 4.0 that points to an existing URL without redirecting to it (e.g /sitemap to /content/view/sitemap/2), you have to use the URL wildcards functionality. This is available in the Administration Interface (Setup->URL wildcards). Enter the new URL (such as "sitemap") in the "New URL wildcard" field, then enter the existing URL (such as "content/view/sitemap/2") in the "Destination" field. Then, click the "Create" button. (Note: Do not use a leading slash in the "Destination" field, especially when using redirecting mode [when you mark the "Redirecting URL" checkbox]. Otherwise, there might be an additional slash in the redirected URL, such as "//content/view/sitemap/2".)

As a result, when the user visits /sitemap, the content from /content/view/sitemap/2 is returned.
